Cider Pairing for the Gluten-Free Vegan
This isn’t to be trendy, ironic, difficult or any combination of those things. This is because Ashley is on a 100% plant-based diet, I eat mostly plant-based. We’ll be sharing our favorite cider pairings as time goes by, but some of the usual parings will be “missing.”
Ashley led the way, making some dietary changes years ago by eliminating foods that never left her feeling well. A novel concept. I followed for support, and because it was easier to cook one meal for two than two meals for one. Upon learning that she was gluten-intolerant, we cut out gluten. In fact, cutting out gluten solved some issues for me as well. The next big step came when Ashley transitioned to a 100% plant-based and anti-inflammatory diet. I did not go full vegan, as I still eat some fish and am not strong enough to resist cheese.
Fortunately, cider is an extremely versatile drink that can be incorporated into, enjoyed with and compliment just about any food. Some of our favorites are cider sautéed mushrooms and onions, roasted vegetables, curries and Asian cuisine. We look forward to sharing our pairings with you and want to hear what foods and ciders you like to pair as well!
